Reversed Polarity
A continuing argument about gear, electronics, and music.

Reversed Polarity
What Is This Show?
Reversed Polarity is not a gear review podcast. It's a structured argument. Each episode we pick one thing — a tube type, a speaker cab, a recording chain, a pedal topology — and we take sides. One of us defends it, one of us attacks it. We test it, we measure it where it matters, and we tell you what we actually think. Sometimes we agree by the end. Sometimes we don't. Either way, you'll know more about the thing than when you started.
We pick a piece of equipment, a circuit, a tone choice, or a recording method and argue it from both sides. No polite reviews — just clear positions, real tests, and the occasional wrong answer. The debate stays open because the next episode might prove us wrong.
If you care how things actually sound and why they do, this is the show.
The Arguments
12AX7 vs 12AU7 — Does the Preamp Tube Actually Matter?
We swap tubes in three different preamp stages and argue whether the difference is real or just expensive placebo. Spoiler: one of us changed their mind.
Alnico vs Ceramic — The Speaker Magnet Debate
The tone community has strong opinions. We have a test rig. We run both through the same cab, same amp, same room and let the argument begin.
True Bypass vs Buffered — Are You Killing Your Signal?
Long cable runs, multiple pedals, and a signal chain that sounds like a blanket. We argue the physics and the practicality of both approaches.
